Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission Bill 2023 Gets Approval
On Tuesday, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet gave its seal of approval to the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission Bill 2023. This landmark decision will establish the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission as the integrated body responsible for recruiting teachers in government-aided educational institutions, as well as handling appointments in other government educational establishments.
Previously, the state had separate selection boards and commissions for teacher recruitment. However, with this new legislation, the Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Service Commission and the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Service Selection Board will be disbanded. The headquarters of the newly formed commission will be located in Prayagraj. The State government will appoint 12 members and a chairman to lead the commission. Their tenure will last for three years or until they reach the age of 65, whichever comes earlier, as stated by Yogendra Upadhyay, the Higher Education Minister of U.P.
Water Tourism and Adventure Sports Policy 2023
In addition to the Education Service Selection Commission Bill, the Cabinet also gave the green light to the Water Tourism and Adventure Sports Policy 2023. This comprehensive policy will be valid for ten years and will apply to all land-based, air-based, and water routes, including dams, reservoirs, lakes, rivers, and ponds. Furthermore, it encompasses all adventure activities taking place on various waterbodies and land parcels within the state’s jurisdiction.
The Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions boast captivating hills covering around 16,620 sq km at the foothills of the Himalayas. These areas, along with their breathtaking landscapes, forested expanses, flowing rivers, and stunning waterfalls, dams, reservoirs, and lakes, offer immense potential for water-based tourism, adventure sports, and water sports. In light of these possibilities, the Council of Ministers approved the policy, which will remain in effect for a decade, as stated by U.P. Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh.
The policy outlines the creation of a divisional-level nodal agency dedicated to adventure sports units. This agency will conduct in-depth studies to identify potential areas for water-based tourism and adventure sports. Additionally, it will be responsible for issuing licenses for such activities on designated land areas and water sources.
Both the approval of the Education Service Selection Commission Bill and the Water Tourism and Adventure Sports Policy 2023 signify significant strides by the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet in enhancing the education sector and tapping into the state’s natural beauty for tourism and adventure opportunities.
